What a success the UK food and drink industry is making of exporting our great products and British brand. It's no surprise to me the exhibitors have full Department of International Trade and Defra backing and, in fact, I've never witnessed such a positive, joined-up approach.

For me, the secret lies in two things. Firstly, our ability to innovate and to be entrepreneurial in the food and drink sector. Be it flavoured popcorn to Asia, organic low sugar drinks to Germany or healthy kids snacks globally, we are great exporters of creativity. And secondly, the value of the British brand. It speaks of quality, heritage and just something special.

So well done if you exhibited at this year's IFE in London – you impressed me.
